Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for expressing an interest in learning more about Niche.

Niche is an upcoming online publication targeting general interest content in the vein of Forbes, HuffPost, and others.

In the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) industry when someone builds a specialized blog site for the purpose of advertising revenue it is called a “niche site”. We thought it would be a cute play on words.

Most SEOs have a niche site; we have niche.site.

Niche is led by marketers with experience at large online publishers such as Red Ventures, Clearlink, and Leaf Group. Our advisory board is comprised of senior leaders in growth strategies for enterprise corporations.

We have received interest from about 50 writers including individuals who’ve written for HubSpot, The Penny Hoarder, MarketWatch, The Palm Beach Post, as well as marketing content writers, bloggers, and creative writers.

Increasingly, enterprise publishers are relying on large scale content strategies using non-expert writers. Eventually we expect these writers to be replaced by software solutions, such as Large Language Models (LLMs) like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and future AI implementations.

We believe the future of human writers developing content for enterprise publishers and other marketing related tasks is in jeopardy.

Niche will use only knowledgeable human writers writing about topics that they are well-versed in. We will use no LLMs, content briefs, or other AI writing assistants.

When we reach 50,000 monthly pageviews we will begin monetization efforts including ads, sponsored content, and link insertions.

In 2022 at Clearlink we generated 100 million pageviews and $64 million in advertising revenue through sites like The Penny Hoarder, SafeWise, Business.org, and Move.org.

Content quantity. The more writers we have, the more content we will be able to publish. Some content will go viral, while some will receive no traffic at all.

If we assume an average of 10 pageviews per blog per month then we would need 5,000 pieces of content to achieve our monthly traffic goal.

If we have 50 writers creating an average of 2 articles a week we will have 5,200 content pieces at the end of one year.

When the site is monetized writers will make 50% of the advertising revenue their content makes.

The other 50% will go to operating expenses, advertising expenses, and company profits.

Yes. Niche is designed for people who want to write, but don’t have the time, skill, or interest to develop and design a website and then market it to an audience.

  • A beautifully designed and professionally developed blogging platform.
  • Technical and SEO content best practices to maximize organic traffic.
  • Paid social advertising to build an audience and followers.
  • Email marketing to further nourish and grow our audience.
  • Hassle free monetization layers with transparent revenue sharing.

Monetization is based on site traffic. The more content we add the more traffic we’ll receive. The faster we achieve our traffic goals, the faster we achieve monetization.

The goal of Niche is not just to monetize. The goal of Niche is to support human writers with expertise and experience to continue to have value in the content marketing industry.

In short, Niche is philosophically opposed to ChatGPT and other LLM and AI writing software.

None. Each article a writer contributes brings us closer to our goal of monetization. Whether you have the time and interest to write one blog or 100 blogs your contribution will be greatly appreciated.

Whatever you have genuine knowledge and experience about. The goal is to prove that human writers creating original, unique, and helpful content still have value in the marketplace.

We do want to avoid particularly controversial content around religious, political, or adult themes. We do not want to scare advertisers like Elon Musk has done at Twitter / X.

Yes. If you have knowledge and experience that is helpful. We also want to build writers’ knowledge graphs (Google’s understanding of who an author is) so we’ll be happy to include bios, links, and structured data enhancements to connect the dots.

However, link insertions (backlinks) will not have benefits for other sites until we have established our own authority, which will take several years.

Yes. Everyone who submits an article may list themselves as ‘Staff Writer’ at Niche on their resume and social media profiles. You may also show prospective clients your portfolio as an example of your writing. Additionally, once we achieve monetization you will be able to show prospective employers and clients that you’ve successfully achieved monetization through your writing.

I’m interested – what are the next steps?
